i was cool even back then

You know, when I was about ... 7 or so, my most favorite band in the world was Duran Duran. I had my own record player, which to this point in my life was used for listening to my extensive collection of fairy tales. And when I say “extensive” I do mean extensive. There were about 30 of them. Or maybe more or less, I might be totally making this up. Actually I might be making up my age too, I don’t really remember how old I really was. But that’s not what this story is about. This story is about my love for music at an early age. There came a time in my life when I decided enough is enough with this kid stuff and I started listening to music.

I remember checking out a record of Abba (which I actually liked until the point when the little buddy of mine told me that she looks like the prettier of the two singers and I look like the not-as-pretty-one. She was always a hooch), and the Rolling Stones, and Creedence and a whole bunch more. I always came back to Duran Duran. That and there was this record called “Stars on 45” – it was as disco as it gets. I LOVED IT!!!!!

I have this vivid memory of a summer day, no one but me was home, the windows in my room were open, the curtains were blowing in the wind and I had cranked the record player to the loudest. I remember jumping on the couch up and down while listening to Duran Duran. When I was jumping, the dust and little crumbs of crap that get in that crease of the couch jumping up and down with me.

I was loving life.

Hungry like the wolf, Ordinary World and Come Undone. The last two are perfect examples of the early 90s and the first one is DEFINITELY 80s.
