My friend recently brought up a good point that I have been thinking about for a while. She is conscious of her blessings and sometimes even writes them down. At times she shoots an email and shares those good things in her life with me.
I have to say that it is very therapeutic.
It helps me lift my eyes from the problems I am facing and think of the good things that I am blessed with. It forces me to not take things for granted. To appreciate the little things that I pass by every day and don't notice. Or the big things that I am so used to that I just assume they will always be there. The things that seem normal to me might not be normal to people around me and I am blessed to have/experience/live them.
Being conscious of my blessings puts me back in my place.
